V-Day Wilkes-Barre 2008 is proud to announce the cast of A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer being performed March 1, 2008 at the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre. V-Day Wilkes-Barre is in their fourth consecutive year of raising awareness and funds to support the Domestic Violence Service Center and the Victims Resource Center, local organizations committed to ending violence against women and girls.
A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer is a new show featuring, for the first time, a combined cast of women and men celebrating the 10th anniversary of V-Day. Tickets have sold out quickly for this event in the past. Make your reservations early by calling (570) 479-6746.
V-Day’s 2008 Spotlight Campaign focuses on the Women of New Orleans and the Gulf South. These women - Katrina Warriors - have come to symbolize the universal plight of women in conflict zones– high levels of violence; economic hardship; racism; and public structures that failed to protect them. Katrina Warriors also highlight the dire need for resources to this still devastated community.
As Eve Ensler writes in her latest book Insecure At Last: Losing It In Our Security Obsessed World “What undid the people of New Orleans was, and remains, the lack of response, the feeling of being forgotten, the lack of a plan, the waiting, the humiliations that occurred on the backs of humiliations. The lack of respect.”

November 19, 2007 - V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2008 with women and men from the U.S. and throughout the world.
Founded by playwright Eve Ensler on February 14, 1998 at the first benefit of her award winning play The Vagina Monologues, the global non profit has raised over $50 million for local anti violence groups with events taking place in over 120 countries to date and thousands more planned during the upcoming anniversary year.

V-Day’s anniversary events are made possible by the generous support of the NoVo Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation.
